Psychotherapy consists of an unfolding process, between client and therapist, wherein as therapist I attempt to know my client as fully as possible.
In an increasingly complex and demanding world, creating time to become more aware of who we are, as well becoming aware of our impact on others, is important in enhancing our strengths to navigate life issues successfully. This is achieved in a confidential, safe dialogue, together working towards mutually agreed objectives.
Every therapy is a unique process, a safe context which is free from judgement, and where different meanings, ideas and possibilities can be explored.
My task is to create awareness by removing obstacles, blocking my client’s path towards growth.
A client’s open and motivated approach to therapy is an essential part towards contributing to the process of personal growth, peace and satisfaction.
Important in my therapy:
- Therapy is process driven, not a prescription
- Therapy is client driven; tailored to the client’s needs
- Therapy is a dynamic, evolving process
- Therapy is about flexibility within a defined framework.
I draw from several therapy approaches, but for the most part, I work from an interpersonal or ecosystemic frame of reference.
I use various “tools” such as imago couples therapy, the enneagram, coactive coaching, family genograms, and guided imagery.
It is important for me to see people in their context, which means that I look to understand people holistically, taking into account their unique culture, family, history and personal experiences which contribute to and shape the person they have become and are becoming.
Being aware of how our past, present and future impact and shape who we are, means that we are more equipped to make informed choices about who we wish to be and how we wish to behave.
My commitment is to work in partnership with each client, with a view to helping the person move towards their desired outcome in ways which will meaningful to them.
